2020/21 - remote rehearsals in the year of the pandemic
These were the concerts that never happened due to the global pandemic
25th Anniversary Concert
Saturday 21st March, 2020 | 7.30 pm University Church of St Mary the Virgin, Oxford This was to have been our 25th Anniversary concert - a feast of celebratory music by Walton, Britten, Howells, Pachelbel, and Purcell, as well as what was to be a rare performance of Amy Beach's epic Festival Jubilate "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye Lands Serve the Lord with gladness and come before his presence with singing." Psalm 100 |
A Choral Menagerie
Saturday 13th June 2020 | 7.30 pm Merton College, Oxford Epic dragon battles in heaven, conquering lions and silver swans, cats, mice, owls, unicorns, seals, even birds of paradise - they're all featured in our curated menagerie of music inspired by the animal kingdom. Britten's monumental Rejoice in the Lamb - energetic, lithe, mystical - is the centrepiece of the concert, which also includes Tavener's The Lamb, Whitacre's Seal Lullaby, and Bob Chilcott's Aesop's Fables, as well as music by Gibbons, Ravel and others. |
